Kettering Car Park

Additional accessible car park spaces open at Kettering station

  • Car park re-surfaced and seven additional disabled bays created
  • Better environment for customers using Kettering station
  • EMR worked alongside Network Rail to complete works in under 12 weeks

East Midlands Railway (EMR) has completed a project to create seven additional accessible car park spaces and resurface the north car park at Kettering Railway station.

EMR and Network Rail worked together to agree specifications, organise joint funding and finalise designs.

The re-surfacing has transformed the car park and will help mitigate any future risks relating to the development of potholes and surface drainage issues.

The re-lining of the car park means that the bays are now clearly marked and larger in size, making them easier to use for customers and reducing the possibility of damage.

The car park works are part of an ongoing significant investment at Kettering station by Network Rail and EMR. These include the extension of platforms 1-4, a programme of works to refurbish the station canopies, and a new cycle hub.

EMR is also improving the station lighting, CCTV and public announcement systems over the next few years.

Lisa Angus, Projects and Transition Director for EMR said: “We’re really pleased that the Kettering north car park works are complete. Having more accessible car park spaces available within closer proximity to the station entrance is a huge benefit for any disabled passengers travelling to or from Kettering."

Seb Cabot, Head of Passenger Experience for Network Rail’s East Midlands route said: “Working closely with East Midlands Railway has been instrumental in delivering a better, more accessible car park for passengers in Kettering in such a short amount of time. We’re now pushing ahead with a whole programme of significant improvements at the station to deliver a better experience for everybody who uses it.”
