East Midlands Railway shares Christmas cheer across the Region
- 1000 bottles of Prosecco and wine donated to Nottingham, Derby, Chesterfield and Sheffield Hospices
- Bringing some festive cheer to Hospice staff this Christmas
- Thank you for hospice carers across the East Midlands
East Midlands Railway (EMR) has donated over 1,000 bottles of prosecco and wine across local hospices throughout the East Midlands this week to spread some festive cheer and say thank you for all their hard work this year.
EMR were unable to offer the prosecco and wine to First Class passengers this year due to Covid which meant a lot of leftover bottles.
As well as the booze, orange juice and smoked salmon have been donated to the following Hospices:
- Notts Hospice - Nottingham
- Treetops Hospice Care - Derby
- Ashgate Hospice - Chesterfield
- St Lukes Hospice - Sheffield
The local Hospices are sharing the festive fizz out in various ways; many of them are gifting them in Christmas hampers for staff or as raffle prizes and some bottles will be added to the table to accompany a Christmas dinner.
Neil Grabham, Customer Services Director for EMR said “Sharing these bottles of prosecco and wine are a great way for us to surprise and delight people in these unprecedented times.
“It’s also our little way of saying thank you to all the amazing people working in the Hospices across the East Midlands who are working incredibly hard in this very challenging time to keep their patients safe and well.”
Gemma Taylor-Mahon, Fundraising, Marketing & Communications Manager for Notts Hospice said: “After what has been a difficult year, this wonderful donation from East Midlands Railway will put a smile on many people’s faces and raise much needed funds through Christmas raffles in our shops across Nottinghamshire.”
Ali Jordan, Senior Staff Nurse at Treetops Hospice Care said: “We are so grateful for this generous donation. We will be using the donations in our special Christmas ‘Cake and Care’ packs that we will be delivering to our patients and their families, continuing to shield at home, in the next few weeks.
“Thank you from us all at Treetops Hospice Care!”
Lynn Jones, Community Fundraiser for Ashgate Hospice said: “We are so grateful for this generous donation from EMR.
“The orange juice and smoked salmon will be used by our kitchen / restaurant, the kitchen serves our patients on the ward and the restaurant is only open for staff at this time. The wine and prosecco will be used on the ward, for patients and their families at Christmas. We’re putting some hampers together to raffle off and any wine left over will be given to staff and volunteers who are working over the festive period too.
“Thank you so much, it really does mean a lot to our staff, patients, and their families”.
Clare Collingworth, Corporate Fundraiser for St Luke’s Hospice said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to East Midlands Railway for this very kind and generous gift.
“There are so many ways in which we will be able to make good use of all these excellent items, especially at this time of year.
“It is a wonderful donation that is really appreciated by everybody at St Luke’s.”
