EMR awarded Diversity and Inclusion Gold Standard for a second time

  • EMR again awarded Gold Standard accreditation for Diversity and Inclusion
  • Operator, which is part of Transport UK, recognised for demonstrating the values are fully embedded across the business

East Midlands Railway (EMR) has once again been recognised for its strong commitment to diversity and inclusion, earning the Inclusive Employers Gold Standard accreditation for a second time.

The train operator, part of Transport UK, achieved the award by demonstrating that diversity and inclusion are fully embedded across all areas of its operations.

The Gold Standard is given to organisations that can show clear evidence that their policies, practices and culture consistently reinforce their inclusion strategy.

The accreditation report highlighted EMR’s genuine commitment to listening, learning and adapting to the needs of different groups and communities within the organisation.

It also noted that inclusion at EMR is not treated merely as a policy initiative but is woven into the way the company engages with its people.

Kate Holden, HR Director at East Midlands Railway, said: "We are proud to again achieve this important accreditation and show that diversity and inclusion are at the very heart of our values at EMR.

"This accreditation reaffirms our work and shows that policies are being acted upon rather than just sitting on a shelf. The fact that EMR adapts to the needs of its diverse workforce helps it to achieve and drives the business forward."

Emily Pattinson, Senior Inclusive Employers Standard Programme Lead at Inclusive Employers, said: "We’re incredibly proud that EMR has shown a clear commitment to building an inclusive culture.

"In what can feel like an overwhelming time for inclusion and diversity work, organisations like EMR are helping to drive meaningful change.

"By seeking to understand their inclusion development, EMR demonstrates to others in their sector that they are prioritising their people and creating a culture of impactful inclusion.”
