EMR service update: Temporary timetable changes introduced for Monday 13 July

East Midlands Railway (EMR), operated by Transport UK, will introduce temporary timetable changes on Monday 13 July as the impact of the recent hot weather continues to affect fleet availability.

Following high temperatures across the country over the weekend, some trains have required additional checks and maintenance, placing further pressure on the available fleet.

EMR is introducing a reduced timetable on some routes to help protect the wider network, maintain resilience and keep services running safely for customers.

By making considered reductions to a small number of services, EMR can better manage the available fleet and retain a pool of trains that can be deployed where needed should further disruption occur.

EMR is working closely with Network Rail and its fleet partners to monitor conditions and return services to normal as quickly as possible.

Customers are advised to check their journey before setting off and, where possible, travel before 12:00 noon when temperatures are expected to be lower.

Service changes – Monday 13 July

EMR plans to operate the following services:

Connect

A full service is planned to operate.

Intercity

A reduced Intercity timetable will operate, with the tactical removal of some services throughout the day.

Regional

The following temporary changes will apply:

Robin Hood Line services between Nottingham and Worksop will be suspended from 12:00.
Nottingham to Leicester stopping services will be suspended from 12:00.

Liverpool Lime Street – Nottingham – Norwich services will operate between Norwich and Sheffield only.

Customers who need to travel are encouraged to plan ahead and take simple steps to stay safe and comfortable during the hot weather.

As well as travelling before 12:00 noon where possible, customers should carry plenty of water to stay hydrated, wear lightweight clothing, and make use of shaded areas or station waiting rooms while waiting for services.

Customers should check the latest travel information before setting off via the EMR website or app.

Philippa Cresswell, Customer Experience Director at East Midlands Railway, said: “The high temperatures we have experienced over recent days have continued to put pressure on the railway and the availability of some of our trains.

“Our priority is to keep as much of the network running as possible while continuing to operate safely. By making temporary changes to a small number of services, we can better protect the wider timetable and provide greater resilience across the network.

“We apologise for the disruption these changes may cause and thank customers for their patience and understanding. If you do need to travel, please check your journey before setting off and, where possible, travel before midday. We’d also encourage customers to carry plenty of water, stay hydrated and allow extra time for their journey.”
