East Midlands Railway (EMR), operated by Transport UK, has received the Members' Choice Award from the Lincoln & Lindsey Blind Society for its commitment to creating welcoming, inclusive and visually impaired-friendly travel experiences.
The charity selected EMR based on feedback highlighting the staff and facilities that make their journeys seamless, safe and enjoyable.
Members were particularly impressed by the EMR team at Lincoln station, who provide personalised, friendly assistance. They also commended the station's accessible facilities, including its accessible toilets, for being clean, clear and well maintained.
The station's layout also stood out, with wide, obstacle-free aisles, platforms and concourses, and any unavoidable hazards clearly marked.
Ian Torrie, one of the members who nominated EMR for the award, said: "Lincoln station offers a high standard of passenger assistance for visually impaired passengers. I have always been met by friendly and attentive staff who keep me fully informed as they guide me to or from a train. Thanks to all the staff at the station, and keep up the excellent work."
Philippa Cresswell, Customer Experience Director at East Midlands Railway, said: "We are honoured to receive the Members' Choice Award from the Lincoln & Lindsey Blind Society. Knowing that this award comes directly from the members who travel on our services every day makes it particularly special.
"We have a great team at Lincoln, and it's lovely to hear they are receiving recognition for their commitment to supporting customers and providing a high level of customer service."
