- Notts County fans will be travelling in large numbers to Wembley meaning services are likely to be particularly busy
East Midlands Railway (EMR) is urging customers to plan ahead and leave plenty of time for their journeys during the May Bank Holiday on Monday 25 May, as services are expected to be extremely busy due to football supporters travelling to and from the capital.
Notts County fans will be travelling in large numbers for the League Two Play-Off Final at Wembley Stadium (kick-off 3pm), meaning services are likely to be particularly busy between 9am and 11am on trains to London St Pancras, and between 6pm and 9pm on services departing London St Pancras.
Customers should note that queuing systems will be in place at Nottingham and London St Pancras stations to help customers board services safely.
If possible, fans are also encouraged to consider alternative routes to the capital via Grantham on Monday.
Philippa Cresswell, Customer Experience Director at EMR, said: “Services from Nottingham will be very busy this Monday due to football fans using our Intercity services to travel to the capital.
“Unfortunately, customers should expect queues, and we advise those not attending the match to avoid travelling between 9am and 11am to London, and between 6pm and 9pm to Nottingham, if possible.
“We would like to thank customers for their patience during this busy period.”
