May Timetable change: Sunday service boost for Nottinghamshire

  • May timetable change brings new Sunday services and improved connections
  • It includes new Sunday services introduced on the Robin Hood Line
  • Two new Sunday services for Beeston
  • Additional stop to improve access to Peak District
  • An additional call at Netherfield on the 10:03 Nottingham to Skegness on weekdays and Saturdays

East Midlands Railway (EMR), which is operated by Transport UK, will introduce a number of timetable improvements across its network from Sunday, May 17 - including new Sunday services on the Robin Hood Line and more services for Beeston.

Together, the changes aim to make rail travel more convenient for customers while supporting leisure travel and helping to boost the Sunday economy.

As part of the May timetable change, EMR will introduce six new Sunday services between Nottingham and Mansfield Woodhouse - boosting the number of services that call at stations along the line including Bulwell, Hucknall, Newstead, Kirkby-in-Ashfield, Sutton Parkway and Mansfield.

The new services will depart:

From Nottingham

  • 10:06
  • 12:06
  • 14:06

From Mansfield Woodhouse

  • 11:06
  • 13:06
  • 15:06

The additional trains will provide customers with greater flexibility when travelling on Sundays and make it easier for people to visit friends and family, enjoy leisure activities or travel into Nottingham for shopping and hospitality.

The services are also expected to help support the Sunday economy in communities along the route, including Mansfield.

As part of the timetable change, two Sunday Nottingham to London services will also stop at Beeston.

The additional calls will be made by the following services:

  • 09:24 Nottingham – London St Pancras
  • 10:12 Nottingham – London St Pancras

The timetable change will also improve access to popular leisure destinations across the region, with the 09:42 Sunday service from Nottingham to Liverpool Lime Street now calling at Edale, providing improved rail access to the Peak District National Park for walkers and visitors.

There will also be an additional call at Netherfield on the 10:03 Nottingham to Skegness on weekdays and Saturdays.

Will Rogers, Managing Director at East Midlands Railway, said: "The new Sunday services on the Robin Hood Line will give communities along the route more flexibility to travel at weekends, while also helping to support local businesses and the Sunday economy.

“Alongside this, the additional stops and increased capacity on key leisure routes will help make it easier for customers to travel for days out, holidays and visits to friends and family."
