Join the EMR Sheffield Disability and Inclusion Group: Shape the future of train travel accessibility
- Operator looking for members of the public to join disability and inclusivity group
- Group will help inform, advise and influence the train operator on good practice and appropriate policies
- Applicants must have lived experience of disabilities, caring responsibilities, or inclusivity.
East Midlands Railway (EMR) is looking for volunteers from Sheffield to join a group that provides the operator with vital advice and information on disability and inclusivity.
The EMR Sheffield Disability and Inclusion Group will collaborate with the train operator to help inform, advise, and influence it on best practices and appropriate policies - with particular attention to the experience of travelling on its services in South Yorkshire.
To join the group, applicants must have lived experience with disabilities, caring responsibilities, or inclusivity.
EMR has similar groups across its network that have worked on numerous projects directly contributing to improved accessibility. This includes creating disability awareness training, providing feedback on the redevelopment plans for Leicester Station, and offering guidance on wayfinding projects.
Hannah Cotton-Diederich, Access and Inclusion Manager at East Midlands Railway, said: "Our goal is to build strong community bonds, raise awareness, and make train travel a more accessible choice for people with disabilities and their families.
"The group will assist us in creating a more inclusive environment for everyone to enjoy their journeys with us from Sheffield. If you believe you can contribute, please apply."
Individuals can express their interest in joining the group by emailing: emraccessibility@eastmidlandsrailway.co.uk
