Forge Bakehouse thrives at Sheffield Station and expands to new spot
- City baker is moving to bigger unit in the station due to success
- New unit will be located at the bottom of the main stairway to the overbridge
- Barista-made hot drinks with the best quality coffee beans, chocolate, and tea.
- There will also be our range of pastries, sandwiches, and breads
A popular baker is set to establish a new home in a bigger unit at Sheffield station after Forge Bakehouse became a hit with railway customers.
The Abbeydale-based bakery has worked with East Midlands Railway (EMR) to secure a new location in the station.
The new unit, which will open next month, will be located at the bottom of the main stairway to the overbridge, giving the company a prime spot to advertise its delicious wares to the 10 million passengers that pass through the station each year.
Owner Liva Guest, who runs the business in partnership with her husband Craig, said the company's old location has proven to be a great introduction to the station's customers, and she is excited about how the new space will enable them to grow their business.
She said: "The old location has been a great introduction to the station, but the time is now right to make this a more formal agreement in the busiest part of the concourse after we've proven to be a hit with our handmade, high-quality produce.
"Although it's compact, customers shouldn't be concerned. Our range will fit, and there will even be tables for customers who want seating instead of only takeaway.
"We’ll be offering proper barista-made hot drinks with the best quality coffee beans, hot chocolate, and tea. No push-button coffee here. There will also be our range of pastries, sandwiches, and breads. We'll be adding to the range as customers provide feedback on what they want to see - so watch this space."
Simon Pready, Commercial Director at East Midlands Railway said: "We are delighted that Forge Bakehouse has been such a hit with our customers and its great to see a local business expand and create jobs.
"With more than 10 million people passing through its doors each year, Sheffield station remains a very popular place to do business.
"I'm looking forward to sampling some of the coffee and cakes myself when I next visit."

East Midlands Railway (EMR) is seeking new tenants for another prime retail location at Sheffield station.
The retail unit presents a great opportunity for entrepreneurs seeking a busy location that sees more than 10 million visitors a year.
It is sited in the charming Victorian station, immediately opposite the taxi rank, and would be perfect as a retail unit, office, or takeaway outlet.
