East Midlands Railway (EMR) has seen a significant increase in the popularity of its Advance Purchase tickets, as more customers plan ahead to secure the best-value fares.
Over the last two years*, Advance Purchase journeys have increased by 34.1 per cent, rising from 4,407,696 to 5,909,548 journeys - clearing demonstrating the growing appetite among EMR customers to plan ahead.
Advance Purchase tickets are available on most routes, with customers able to save up to 60 per cent on journeys.
Recently, EMR introduced these tickets on the Nottingham to Lincoln route and the Derby to Crewe route, providing regional customers with even more opportunities to save.
Advance Purchase tickets are ideal for customers who know exactly when they need to travel. Their introduction also helps EMR manage demand by promoting travel during quieter, off-peak times, thereby alleviating pressure on busier services.
Top Tips for using Advance Purchase tickets
Travel Off-Peak – Where possible, customers should look for off-peak times when buying Advance train tickets. Generally, ticket prices are lower during quieter periods on weekdays and weekends compared to peak times.
Book Advance Tickets on the Day of Travel – Occasionally, customers may find Advance tickets available for their journey on the same day of travel. A great way to find these fares is by downloading the EMR app.
Get a Railcard – Save up to a third on Advance train tickets with a Railcard. If customers use a Railcard to buy their ticket, they must remember to take it with them when they travel.
