Travelling with EMR this Bank Holiday Sunday? This is what you need to know

• Customers should allow extra time for their journey due to engineering works and queuing systems in place
• EMR has added as many carriages as possible to help manage demand
• Services are likely to be busy with customers who normally use the West Coast Mainline

East Midlands Railway (EMR) is advising customers to allow extra time for their journey this Sunday - as services to and from London St Pancras International will be affected by engineering works.

Engineering work is taking place between London St Pancras International and Luton, closing some lines to and from the capital, while West Coast Mainline engineering works will mean no services between Milton Keynes and London Euston.

Although a reduced EMR timetable will be in operation, it has added carriages to the services to ensure it can provide as many seats as possible.

Queuing systems will be in place at London St Pancras International to help manage the flow of customers who might be using the service instead of travelling on the West Coast Mainline.

EMR customers should expect amended timings and journey times, and some EMR Intercity services may also be making additional calls at Loughborough, Long Eaton, and Beeston.

Customers whose original plans had been to travel with Avanti West Coast can find their amended service details here: https://www.avantiwestcoast.co.uk/travel-information/may-bank-holiday.

Customers whose original plans had been to travel with London North Western Railway can find their amended service details here: https://www.londonnorthwesternrailway.co.uk/travel-information/service-alterations/amended-service-between-milton-keynes-central-and-london

Dave Meredith, Customer Services Director at East Midlands Railway, said: "We expect our services to be very busy due to the impact engineering works will have on the Midland Mainline and West Coast Mainline, as well as the closure of  Euston station.

"Within the resources afforded to us, we are running as many carriages as possible, and we are introducing a queuing system at London St Pancras International to safely manage the expected higher numbers of travellers - especially when some of those customers would normally use the West Coast Mainline.

"All customers should allow themselves plenty of time to make their journey."

EMR Intercity and EMR Connect services - Sunday, May 5

EMR will be running one train per hour on each route between:

• Nottingham and London St. Pancras International
• Sheffield and London St. Pancras International
• EMR will run two trains per hour between Corby and London St. Pancras International
• An hourly shuttle service will operate between Kettering and Corby.
