Save up to 34% when you travel together: EMR expand GroupSave ticket to Barton Line

  • EMR introduce new Groupsave ticket to Barton Line 
  • Customers can save up to 34% off adult ticket price when they travel in a group 
  • Children can travel for as little as £1 each as part of ticket offer 
  • Great way to see different attractions on the line 

East Midlands Railway (EMR) has introduced a new ticket type for the Barton Line which offers groups the opportunity to save up to a third on the cost of travel.

EMR’s GroupSave product allows three to nine people to benefit from a discount of 34% off adult tickets when they travel in a group. Plus, customers can take up to four children with them for just £1 each.

The line starts at Barton upon Humber, a historic town close to the Humber Bridge, then moves on to Barrow Haven, New Holland, Goxhill, and Thornton Abbey with its imposing medieval gatehouse.

The line then passes through Ulceby & Habrough, where it joins the mainline from Scunthorpe, and passes through the villages of Stallingborough, Healing, and Great Coates before entering the bustling fishing port of Grimsby and arriving at the seaside town of Cleethorpes.

Councillor Stewart Swinburn, Portfolio Holder for Environment and Transport at North East Lincolnshire Council, said: “Expanding the GroupSave ticket to the Barton line is a fantastic initiative, making public transport cheaper and more accessible for all.

"The Barton Line stops in many places throughout North East Lincolnshire, including Habrough, Stallingborough, Healing, Great Coates, Grimsby, and Cleethorpes, allowing groups to visit their friends and family at a cheaper cost.”

Cllr Tim Mitchell, cabinet member for connectivity at North Lincolnshire Council, said: "This saving on the Barton Line is a great opportunity for residents to get out and about to visit North Lincolnshire’s amazing tourist attractions.

“We are committed to improving transport links in North Lincolnshire. This new ticket type means adults and children can make a brilliant saving when travelling around the Barton area.”

Tom Irvin, Chair of the Friends of the Barton Line group, said: "We welcome the introduction of GroupSave fares. They will make rail travel on the Barton Line more competitive for small groups and especially families and hopefully the first of many initiatives to make rail travel more affordable."
